Winter Chills and Ginger
This time of year our immune system is under a lot of stress as viruses are more prevalent. Our Kapha perfume oil has been created to balance Kapha, but with its immune-boosting ingredients it’s also perfect for speeding up recovery of winter chills for all doshas. One of the key ingredients is ginger essential oil. Here’s why we love ginger…
Ginger is sweet, spicy and woody and has been used in India and China for its health benefits since ancient times. It is one of the first products to travel the ‘spice route’ from Asia to Europe, where both the Greeks and Romans made extensive use of it.
It is well known for its ability to clear sinuses and help with coughs, sore throats and congestion, chills and infection. It has a warming and stimulating effect on the lungs and so helpful for chronic bronchitis.
Rheumatism and many winter ills are aggravated by external dampness and the fiery properties of ginger have long been used to combat this. Ginger helps poor circulation and cold hands and feet. It is often used to improve arthritis and muscular pain as it has strong pain-relieving qualities.
Stimulating and warming the digestive organs, ginger is useful for poor appetite and indigestion. The invigorating scent helps with fatigue and lifts morale when vitality is low after an illness. It is also useful for headaches and nausea, so a very good one for keeping in the handbag when travelling to relieve travel sickness. Go Ginger!!
